The folks at Shimmy-Disc have released the third single from the upcoming Daniel Johnston live album, Alive in New York City, which arrives January 19th, 2024. The track “Frustrated Artist”, sees Johnston contemplate his public persona and the complications that arise with it, is accompanied by a video made by Kramer, featuring photos by Macioce. Corresponding with the record’s release, Shimmy-Disc is also putting on an LP release celebration at The Sultan Room in Brooklyn on 1/21/24. The show will feature acts such as Jeffrey Lewis, Ben Copperhead, and Pinc Louds, as well as many more artists paying tribute to Daniel Johnston legacy.

The new LP features a full live concert captured in front of an audience of Johnston’s fans in New York. This marks the first official vinyl release of Johnston performing live in the USA, and Shimmy-Disc has partnered with The Daniel Johnston Estate for this release.
