Tilburg’s ‘Turning Time’ Brings Together 70s Prog Rock And Dark Electronica

Dutch outfit Tilburg has released the EP Turning Time, the second half of a two EP project that each contain four songs. The artist takes 1970’s Progressive Rock and adds modern Dark Electronica elements, creating a blend of the two elements. This EP also features Dutch fusion guitarist Timo Janse and Whispers of The Dragon keyboardist M Hopkins.

The Tilburg project began in 2009 under the name of Kinder Voss, during the recording sessions for debut album Tales of the Spanish Kings, a concept album with early Progressive Rock elements. In 2021, songwriter M Hopkins revived the project and recording sessions began again with Dutch fusion guitarist Timo Janse on guitars and M Hopkins on keyboards.

In the Spring of 2022, their first album was finished, Tilburg was selected as the band’s new name, and their debut album was released.

Influenced by the greats of the past such as Keith Emerson (ELP) and Rick Wakeman (YES), the album reflects many of the qualities of ’70s Progressive Rock, but also features an influence of harder modern guitar and electronic sounds of today.
