Tasty Goody Records has released Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit’s rendition of “Look What You’ve Done To Your Brother”, the latest digital single from the massive Kevn Kinney tribute project, Let’s Go Dancing: A Compilation Celebrating the Songs of Kevn Kinney.

Kevn Kinney says:

I consider myself fortunate to have witnessed the rising talents of Jason and Sadler (Vaden) over the last ten years … and it rocks my world to hear the ultimate culminating guitar duel at the end of this perfect version of ‘Look What You’ve Done’ … I am beyond honored.

Anna Jensen, producer and curator of the project, adds:

This song is ever pertinent and poignant in the present day. Maybe Jason’s voice can lift the message to even greater effect. Or at least be a needed and rousing reminder.

In addition to the digital single, Isbell’s take on the “Drivin n Cryin” track is also included on the first of four seasonal albums released as part of the project, Let’s Go Dancing: Said the Firefly to the Hurricane: A Compilation Celebrating the Songs of Kevn Kinney.

This 12-song compilation was first available on limited-edition vinyl on Record Store Day, Black Friday, November 24, 2023, and made available more widely on vinyl on December 1, 2023.

The album and bigger tribute project, which began as a birthday present from Jensen to her husband Kinney, is a celebration of Kinney’s large and varied body of work and includes performances by his friends and artists influenced by him.

The project will culminate roughly a year from inception with 4 full-length albums and 100 digital tracks, with one single releasing every other week.

The first digital singles, Violent Femmes founding member/vocalist Gordon Gano with Boy Dirt Car “Gotta Move On” and Violent Femmes founding member/bassist Brian Ritchie “Catch the Wind”, were released on June 13, 2023 and Isbell’s is the 16th.
