Icelandic Blackened Death Metal project Helfró have been carving their own path in the local Metal scene. Their journey began when guitarist and songwriter Ragnar Sverrisson started drawing inspiration from the “bleakness of Icelandic winters, the mysticism of nature, and the chaos of the human experience.”

Helfró’s self-titled debut album was released in 2020, focusing on blending “aggression and atmosphere.”

Now the project has evolved with a sophomore album, Tálgröf, where they intend to dive deeper into Death Metal territory. The new album also carries introspective and thought-provoking themes as the band explores more aspects of the human condition, including “addiction and intrusive thought patterns.”

The single and video for “Fláráð Fræði” is out now.
