Today Was Yesterday’s Debut Album Features Rush’s Alex Lifeson & The Doors’ Robby Krieger

The Rock band Today Was Yesterday and Music Theories Recordings / Mascot Label Group have announced the global release of the duo’s self-titled debut studio album for February 23, 2024. The duo consists of lead vocalist, primary songwriter, bassist, guitarist, pianist, and programmer Angelo Barbera and drummer, percussionist and programmer Ty Dennis. On this collection of recordings, Rush’s Alex Lifeson contributes performances on six songs, while The Doors’ Robby Krieger played on one.

The’ve released the lead single and official music video for “Grace.” The lead track features guitarist Alex Lifeson and is about the fentanyl epidemic.

Ty Dennis comments on the duo’s mission:

We come from the days when pop musicians weren’t afraid to be good players.

Angelo Barbera adds:

Ty and I’ve played together as sidemen for 25 years, and we’ve always wanted to work together on original music. Today Was Yesterday is a dream come true for us.

The two first met in 1997. They are longtime veterans of the Rock n’ Roll scene. Angelo Barbara has worked with The Motels featuring Martha Davis, Red Square Black, Lita Ford, and, most notably, The Robby Krieger Band and The Doors of the 21st Century. Ty Dennis previously played in The Motels featuring Martha Davis, where he met Barbera and he later replaced the Police’s Stewart Copeland in The Doors of the 21st Century.
