Lost Under Heaven Takes On “She’s Acting Just Like A Child” For Badlands Remix Project

The full remix album compilation of Badlands project Call To Love arrives next week titled Call To Love: Rendered. The remix artists included are Art Feynman, Ikonika, Odd Nosdam, PAL, Cooly G, Jape, Diamond Dagger & Johanna Knutsson. Another remix track has just been added and shared.

Poet and musician Ellery James Roberts of multi-media project Lost Under Heaven (previous front man of WU LYF) has reworked the track “She’s Acting Just Like a Child” to feel more like a cover than a remix, with Ellerys’ voice and vigorous arrangements getting to grips with the track.

Catharina Jaunviksna, aka Badlands says:

Soon I thought of Ellery for ‘Just Like a Child’. Both regarding its patchy structure, harmonies and the nature of his voice. So glad he was up for it. I sympathize with the autonomy of the LUH project, which has been an important aspect of this whole remix thing. To only invite independent artists who don’t compromise with their creative ideas. I’m very proud of what we’ve achieved together with this compilation.

The remix project releases in full on the 6th of December 2023, digitally worldwide, along with a limited edition cassette available via Bandcamp & Aloaded.

More about Badlands:

Composer, producer & sound alchemist Catharina Jaunviksna has been operating under the pseudonym of Badlands since 2011, under which she makes lush hyperbolic tracks from a wide palette of inspiration; stretching from post-punk, folk and shoegaze; to electro, dub and gritty techno working with analog electronics, sampling & organic orchestration. With a DIY approach sprung from the vivid Dublin electroacoustic scene, where Jaunviksna lived on and off during 2002-2013, she eventually brought the spirit back home and founded the record label, arts platform and production company RITE based in Malmö, Sweden, from where she also makes transboundary arts and documentary, original music and sound designs for film and theater, as well as production, mix/remix work and collaborations with other labels and artists. With her last album Call to Love (a follow-up to acclaimed LP Djinn from 2021), Badlands continues to push the boundaries with their innovative, and often unexpected, productions.

More about Lost Under Heaven:

Described as “Fearless, Life-Affirming & without Compromise”, Lost Under Heaven is the creative collaboration between Dutch sound artist Ebony Hoorn & Ellery James Roberts, a poet, songwriter and producer as well as former front man of the infamous WU LYF. The multimedia project fuses songwriting, cinematic production and visceral storytelling to explore the evolutionary journey of soul. The duo reached wide critical claim when the music installation I&I launched their new project in 2016, and after two boldly maximalist albums; the Mute-released Spiritual Songs For Lovers To Sing and follow-up Love Hates What You Become where Hoorn and Roberts partnered with Grammy winning producer’s John Congleton (Sigur Ros, Swans) & the Haxan Cloak (Bjork, Midsommar Soundtrack), they’re now back with their third album, Something is Announced by your Life! – this time on their own independent imprint LUH*international.
