The B-movie-styled video homage is the title track of her latest album, released this past Spring 2023 via Kitten Robot. The single will also be released physically as a split 7″ with fellow Kitten Robot artist Hayley And The Crushers in November 2023.
The video is described thus:
Hunted by ‘do gooder’ priests, motorcycle bullies, loser boyfriends and a whole Martial Arts school of wannabe Bruce Lees, the video is a road trip to oblivion with Josie “the Fang” Cotton and her two sister soldiers who roam the highways seeking only justice with their beehives, bad attitudes and knives.
Day of the Gun is a record where Cotton ventures into many different and varied genres, ranging from British Invasion, to Spy Music, to Garage Rock and Swampabilly.
Every record I’ve ever made has been kind of an experiment… a chance to morph into something else but this is the one where I go completely over the cliff. Let’s just call it a Dystopian musical with David Lynch as a re-incarnated French poodle who overthinks everything in her path.
Josie Cotton will be hitting the road as well with Punk band Me First and the Gimme Gimmes on the West Coast before flying East to New York City for Fear City Fun Fest.
Day of the Gun features guest appearances by Kevin Preston (Long Shot, Prima Donna), Eddie Spaghetti (Supersuckers), Clem Burke (Blondie), and Lee Rocker (Stray Cats). Day of the Gun was recorded over a four-year time frame at Kitten Robot Studios and was produced and mixed by Josie and Paul Roessler (TSOL, The Screamers, Nina Hagan).
