Today, singer-songwriter, actor, writer and director Josh Radnor has shared his new single “NYC,” a love song steeped in harmonies. The new single will appear on Eulogy: Volume I, which is due out November 17, 2023 as the first installment in his double-album solo debut Eulogy: Volume I + II.
Radnor shares:
‘NYC’ is a love letter to both a person and a city and how sometimes the two get inextricably bound up with each other. It was also a kind of writing exercise for me: How many rhymes could I come up with for ‘city?’ That’s Cory Quintard, one of the producers on the record (who also records as ‘Volunteer’) on the solo towards the end. I wrote that bit in the studio and thought it would sound better with Cory singing it. And I was right.
“NYC” follows the lead album single “Red.” Produced and engineered by Jeremiah Dunlap, Cory Quintard, and Kyle Cox, Eulogy: Volume I leans into storytelling-focused Americana. Many of the songs on the album “serve as goodbyes of sorts: a letting go of people, places, emotions, and ideas.”
Radnor began making music in 2013 with friend and Aussie artist, Ben Lee. The pair released two albums as Radnor & Lee, a self-titled debut in 2017, followed by sophomore album Golden State in 2020. Then, in 2021, Radnor released his debut solo EP, titled One More Then I’ll Let You Go.
Later this month, Radnor will embark on a series of show dates in New York City, Boston, Columbus, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C.
