In 1983, Robert Pollard was working at Lincoln IGE elementary school in Dayton, Ohio, teaching fourth graders by day and writing Rock songs by night. Pollard enlisted some of his high school buddies and formed Guided By Voices.
Forty years and thousands of songs later, Guided By Voices has endured to become one of America’s most seminal Rock bands. To celebrate their 40th anniversary, the band played two sold out concerts at the Dayton Masonic Center alongside fellow Indie Rockers Dinosaur Jr, Built To Spill, and Heartless Bastards, and upstart bands Kiwi Jr. and Wednesday.
In addition, the band is finally putting its first official release, the 1983 EP Forever Since Breakfast, on streaming services, out now. The initial entry shines a light on Pollard’s songwriting abilities.

Earlier this summer, Guided By Voices shared their second release of 2023, a full-length record entitled Welshpool Frillies. Before that, the band’s first album of 2023 was La La Land.
