Singer/songwriters Lydia Loveless and Jason Hawk Harris have teamed up to release their reimagining of Rilo Kiley’s “Portions For Foxes” via Bloodshot Records. The single arrives with an animated music video and features Loveless and Harris exchanging verses. “Portions For Foxes” was originally released on Rilo Kiley’s album More Adventurous with vocals by the group’s Jenny Lewis and Blake Sennett.

Loveless shares:

Jason and I just wanted to do something nostalgic and a bit different. Jason picked it, really. We tossed around Blink-182 and Cursive covers. The recording process was a blast and we really hit it off – and blew a fuse in the soundboard. Sam Brown from New Bomb Turks came in and did drums and killed it. I’m super proud of it.

In the wake of the pandemic, Loveless made the most of her time by performing online shows, writing and recording a record, and starting her own record label, Honey, You’re Gonna Be Late Records. The first release on it was her fifth full-length Daughter.

Loveless’ brand of Rock ranges from Classic to Alt-Country to Punk. She is currently prepping the release of her next project, which is due out later this year.

“Portions For Foxes” marks Harris’ first release since his 2019 Bloodshot Records debut, Love & the Dark, which was inspired in part by his “tumultuous personal life.” Harris released his debut EP Formaldehyde, Tobacco and Tulips in 2017. Harris’ sophomore follow-up to Love & the Dark is expected later this year.
