Rodney Rice Recalls People Who Believed In Him And People Who Didn’t For “How You Told Me So”

West Virginian-born artist Rodney Rice’s “How You Told Me So” is the latest single from Rice’s third full-length album, the upcoming Rodney Rice. It arrives on May 19th, 2023. The track gathers interesting reflections on those people in your life who believe in you and those who don’t and why it might be important to remember both kinds of people and is accompanied by a live performance video.

As Rice notes:

The song came together under quarantine. I wrote this conversational piece about trying to describe what the hell was going on. Folks said I wouldn’t ever turn out to be much of anything. That becomes the hook. It’s important to remember the people who believed in you are just as important as those who didn’t. Not out of spite, but to serve as a reminder to pay positivity forward.

The album Rodney Rice finds Rice taking in “a wide terrain of emotion”, from “the death of beloved grandparents, to the loss of a cherished pet, to the grueling monotony of the road and the joyful celebration of marriage.”
