Brian McSweeney Readies New Solo Releases While ‘As The Bluebird’ Heads To The Stage

MIIRRORS front man Brian McSweeney is readying a new solo release, “Go To Pieces,” set to be released April 25, 2023. Building on the Alt-Folk sound of his album As the Bluebird, McSweeney’s new single combines Indie-Folk Rock with Electronic production.

A hint at the new song to come includes Rhodes piano, analog synths, and a questioning tone about the relationship between dreams and reality. This leads to challenging the despair we often see as inescapable in modern life.

The upcoming single was recorded by McSweeney and Joshua D. Niles and mixed by McSweeney and Anthony Gravino at High Cross Sound. The track also features Aaron Mortenson of Nashville’s Los Colognes on drums.

Meanwhile, McSweeney is working steadily on his next solo album The Good News! and will be performing dates in Summer and Fall 2023 with new collaborators and bandmates Paul Kim and Frances Kang of Bird x Butterfly, a Chicago-based musical duo.

For those who are interested in As the Bluebird and multi-media arts, McSweeney has recently revealed that the album will find another life as a stage play coming up soon in Chicago. You can also still read our interview with MIIRRORS about their debut album right here.
