Resurrectionists Craft Life Or Death Songs For ‘Now That We Are All Ghosts’

Now That We Are All Ghosts is the second album from Milwaukee’s “Doom Chamber-Americana” outfit Resurrectionists. The new collection was self-engineered, recorded and Produced, and it was mastered by Bob Weston at Chicago Mastering Service.

Because their music is so cinematic, the group has commissioned videos for every one of the new songs. The album will be released by Seismic Wave Entertainment on 12” vinyl LP, CD and digital formats on April 3rd, 2023.

Resurrectionists were originally formed by lyricist, guitarist and banjo picker Joe Cannon and bassist Jeff Brueggeman from the trio WORK with drummer Josh Barto and pedal steel player Gavin Hardy. Their debut album What Comes In arrived in 2019.

On Now That We Are All Ghosts, Hardy has been replaced by multi-instrumentalist Gian Pogliano which has influenced their sound, leading them to branch out in stylistic experimentation.

Though some of the new tracks may seem to address experiences of the COVID-19 pandemic, they were actually influenced by reading Thomas Mann’s Death in Venice and The Magic Mountain well before 2020. However, the collection still gives the impression of “life-or-death songs” that aim to be “haunting.”
