Del Barber’s “I Told You So” Catches Us Talking To Those We’ve Lost

Three-time Juno Award nominee and Canadian singer/songwriter Del Barber has released new song I Told You So”. It was originally written from the perspective of Barber’s neighbor who’d lost her husband, but the song’s interpretation of grief a universal quality. Barber ended up applying to his own life when he lost his father.

The track encapsulates the feeling of talking to someone who’s no longer with us and sharing life’s small details with them and is accompanied by an in-studio performance video.

“I Told You So” and Barber’s recently released single “Still Got You” are both songs from his upcoming album Almanac which arrives on April 28th, 2023 via Acronym Records.

Almanac follows Barber’s 2021 album Stray Dogs: Collected B-Sides Vol. 1, which was made during the height of pandemic restrictions. Barber wrote the twelve songs that make up his eighth studio album with collective intention.

He shares:

I want my work to be seen as subtle by definition. I want my statements to come across as questions rather than decrees or opinions. Some of these songs are descriptions of my world through my own eyes; a way of songwriting I’ve never felt I’ve done well until now. Writing Almanac felt like I had another chance. It felt like spring.

Barber kicks off a cross-Canadian tour on April 4th, 2023. A full list of dates and ticket information can be found at delbarber.com/shows.
