New York indie duo We Are Scientists have teased more new material from their forthcoming record Lobes, set for release on January 20, 2023 via Masterswan Recordings. Their new single  “Lucky Just To Be Here” offers a contrast to the two fast-paced tunes already released from the pair’s recently announced eighth studio album.

In addition to the new music, We Are Scientists have a showing coming up in their hometown of NYC, a record release show for Lobes on January 20th, 2023 at Brooklyn Made in Brooklyn. There will be more US dates to be announced in the coming months.

The upcoming new album follows on from their 2021 record HUFFY, and while the origins of songs written for Lobes began around the same time, they seem to come from an “entirely different musical universe”

Vocalist Keith Murray comments:

We consider Huffy our daytime record – it’s an upbeat rock album designed to soundtrack jetski rides to the Bahamas and piña colada in aquamarine-tiled jacuzzis. Our new album, Lobes, however, is our nighttime album. Overall, it’s more electronic, dancier, more ominous, and way sexier than Huffy.
