Nashville-based Rock band Tuk Smith & The Restless Hearts have shared their new single and video, “Everybody Loves You When You’re Dead,” the second track from their forthcoming debut album, Ballad of A Misspent Youth slated for release on November 4th, 2022.

Tuk Smith, former leader of Biters, elaborates on the track’s inspiration:

I was channeling my favorite 70s glam gods on this track, for sure. I woke up one morning with phrase ‘everybody loves you when you’re dead’ running through my head, so I sat down and the piano and the song kind of wrote itself. I had been struggling with the death of a friend and I was flooded with existential thoughts. It’s not necessarily a song about death, per se, it’s a bit more layered with some social commentary thrown in there. Personally, I look at it as more a freedom song.

Tuk Smith grew up in rural Georgia and was lead singer for the Biters for nearly a decade. Tuk Smith & The Restless Hearts made their debut in early 2020 with the release of their first single, “What Kinda Love.” Before the pandemic hit, the band were due to open on The Stadium Tour with Def Leppard and Mötley Crüe. Now, they are back and ready to “deliver rock and roll greatness to the masses once again”.
