Eastern Tennessee-based songwriter Adeem the Artist has unveiled new single and video, “Going To Hell.” Their 2021 album Cast-Iron Pansexual was an “examination of faith, sexual identity, and self-acceptance” whereas this new single heralds a blend of Appalachian musical influences and “poetic flair” with comedic elements. The video for “Going to Hell” features the fields and streams of Tennessee as well as the Devil, of course.
Adeem likes the song…
…because of its absurd whimsy, feckless irreverence, and the balance of comedy and political thought that share a fun and romantic dance. Humor has always been a part of my life.
We chose to put ‘Going To Hell’ out first because it summarized the seemingly contradictory energy of activism & humor in a really complementary and digestible way.
