Balthrop comments on the single and video:

It’s about the fragility of life, this planet, our minds, and how we can get lost in the chaos of trying to make sense of those things.

Things Will Be Different was produced by Nick Kinsey (Waxahatchee, Kevin Morby) and features musicians  Ellen Kempner (Palehound), Matthew Douglas (Mountain Goats), Kevin CopelandMaya de Vitry, David LizmiJames Paul MitchellMatt CombsSteven Bernstein, and Jared Samuel (Invisible Familiars).

On Instagram, Balthrop spoke of the new album:

It’s about anxiety and heartbreak, and the millions of little moments that make up both. It’s about feeling stuck in the present yet fixated on the past. It’s about finding peace because as the saying goes “wherever you are, there you are.” It’s about staying hopeful.

Balthrop will be on the road for a run of shows post-album release.
