On August 26th, 2022, Prudence, the recording project of composer and session bass player Tom Crandles, will release Negatives. Ahead of that, you can check out the album’s first single “Waste Some Time.”

On the song, Tom Crandles says:

’Waste Some Time’ was one of the last compositions for Negatives. Its substance sits in its linear structure. The concept was to create what feels like a pop song with no verse or chorus and a progressive structure having no section repeat.

Known previously for his work as outfit COLOURS, as well as one half of Au.Ra (felte), Prudence began as a song writing endeavour with an emphasis on self expression and exploration. Initially working in bedsits and hotel rooms across the UK and Europe, Crandles now records from his studio in Sydney.

Negatives focuses on “introspective moments” and spans Indie, Ambient, Post-Punk, and Pop. The 12 pieces were composed between 2019 and 2022, reflective of this turbulent time.
