AUA Takes A DIY Approach To ‘The Damaged Organ’ LP

Germany-based band AUA will be releasing their second full-length album, The Damaged Organ, digitally and on 12″ vinyl from Crazysane Records, on January 21st, 2022. The album has been recorded in DIY fashion, just like their first collection, and “explores in depth the concept of alienation”.

This theme is approached from an introspective point of view and a social point of view, and it also takes on a search for identity, questioning, “Who am I and how do I fit into this world?” The Damaged Organ follows on from previous album I Don’t Want It Darker.

Before production started, Fabian Bremer and Henrik Eichmann went hunting for “strange and unusual electronic instruments”, looking for new sounds which would expand upon AUA’s eclectic approach, which includes “Motorik beats, Carpenter-esque arpeggios, and surf guitars”.

Throughout “The Damaged Organ” Bremer and Eichmann play many instruments while taking turns on vocals. “Islands Song” also features Annika Henderson (Anika, Exploded View).

Philipp Welsing added the final touches in mastering, while for the artwork Fabian Bremer collaborated once more with Belgrade-based artist Mihailo Kalabic in surrealistic fashion.
