Grant Pavol’s EP Reflections arrives today via Shamir’s Accidental Popstar Records, preceeded by the singles “No Disasters” and “Bright Skies”.
Pavol’s surrealist new EP is inspired by his hometown of Philadelphia and influenced by “surrendering to time”. He’s drawn on Psychedelic Folk elements and experimental electronic production for the collection.
Pavol comments:
“I wanted the whole thing to feel like a pop record as heard in a dream, to be music which hits in the same way as John Ashbery’s poetry or David Lynch’s films. Everything is languid and moves like a gentle river. I wanted the EP to carry you. It feels like a project which has a consistent and defined creative impulse behind it, and I’m quite proud of that.”
Pavol released his debut EP, Okay, in the spring of 2019 as Accidental Popstar Records’ first release, after befriending label founder Shamir Bailey at shows in “basements and backyards”. That was followed by solo debut LP, About A Year, released in the fall of 2020.
