Time Spent Driving have released “What It Should Be Like,” a long-lost track newly completed more than two decades after it was first written. Out now, the song serves as a bonus track on the upcoming deluxe vinyl and digital reissue of the band’s 2002 album, Just Enough Bright, due April 10th, 2026, via Thirty Something Records.
Originally drafted around the time of the band’s initial breakup, “What It Should Be Like” remained unfinished for years, until recently, when the band returned to the studio to finally bring it to life. The result is “a rare bridge between past and present.”
Frontman Jon Cattivera says:
I had some early drafts of this song right around the time the band originally broke up, but we never got around to finishing it. It’s a verbatim snapshot of one specific night hanging out with a friend I met because she was singing a Jimmy Eat World song while bagging my groceries. It was just refreshing to be around someone who was so in love with life.
A few years ago, we finally went back into the studio and tracked it specifically for the 25th-anniversary vinyl reissue of Just Enough Bright. It’s about what a positive, real connection should actually feel like, and I think long-time fans will appreciate where this one sits alongside the old material.
The track was recorded in 2024 at Compound Recording with producer Olav Tabatabai, and stands as the only newly recorded addition to the reissue.

Originally released in 2002, Just Enough Bright balances the urgency of Punk with melodic, introspective songwriting. For its 25th anniversary, the album has been remixed by original producer J. Robbins and remastered by Dan Coutant (Sun Room Audio).
Tracks 1–10 were originally recorded at Tiny Telephone Studios in San Francisco in January 2002. Formed in 1998, Time Spent Driving built a dedicated international following through relentless touring, playing over 150 shows across the U.S. and Europe, and a series of releases.
