Pennsylvania-based Rock band American Vanity has released the music video for their latest single, “Poison In Your Cup.” The track is the second offering off of their debut album, 17, out on July 17th, 2026. American Vanity were formerly known as Burn The Jukebox.
The music video for “Poison In Your Cup” draws inspiration from Don’t Worry Darling, and rejects “compliance, dismantles illusion, and captures the moment awareness breaks through.”
Singer Virginia Franks stars as a mail-order “home companion unit,” who is “designed to cater to the men around her, who begins to unravel as expectations pile up and respect erodes.” The video is interlaced with “real comments pulled directly from the band’s social media, sharply underscoring the unfiltered reality women in music continue to face online.”
Virginia Franks explains:
Every comment you see in the video came straight from our social media. Women artists deal with this shit every single day. People assume you didn’t write the song, you didn’t write the lyrics, you’re not really playing your instrument, or that you’re supposed to look or act a certain way. And honestly, fuck all of that. We made this video for every girl who wants to be in a band and to show that women in rock aren’t here to fit anyone’s expectations.

17, American Vanity’s debut record, was Produced by Matt Squire. Their debut “details the journey of reclaiming your identity and finding yourself again.”
American Vanity comments:
This album explores what happens when connection becomes conditional and self-worth is tied to visibility, loyalty, or approval. Each song documents a different stage of realizing that staying accessible, agreeable, or available can quietly erode identity. Rather than opting out, the record confronts how to participate without losing yourself.
