Jim Lauderdale And The Po’ Ramblin’ Boys Team Up Again For Bluegrass Album ‘The Birds Know’

Americana artist Jim Lauderdale is releasing two very different albums within a month of each other. These mark his 38th and 39th LPs. After last month’s announcement of Country Super Hits Volume 2, Lauderdale is releasing a new single from his upcoming Bluegrass album, The Birds Know. The single is titled “We Look At Things In Different Ways.”

Due out on April 24th, The Birds Know is a follow-up to 2023’s The Long and Lonesome Letting Go, both featuring IBMA Award-winning The Po’ Ramblin’ Boys

Lauderdale says of The Po’ Ramblin’ Boys:

Since I first saw them at MerleFest several years ago, and after we did our first album together, I really wanted us to do a follow-up. These songs were all written just for this album. The Po’ Ramblin’ Boys keep the sound of traditional bluegrass alive, but they really bring it into the present day. I’m so happy with the way this record turned out, and I’m looking forward to performing with them in the coming years. I love working with them so much.

Lauderdale shares about “We Look At Things In Different Ways”:

This song came through me to speak to these times of divisiveness in our world. It was an important message I wanted to get out—that you can still love somebody even though your views might differ.

Following these two album releases, Lauderdale will open and close the summer with multiple dates in Europe with Emmylou Harris. Before that, on The Birds Know release day, he’ll take the stage once again at MerleFest and will resume his year-long residency at Nashville’s Skinny Dennis on April 6th.
