Singer-songwriter Kim Moberg’s upcoming release, All That Really Matters, reflects on “human experiences, from betrayal, loss, and melancholy to social and justice issues.” The first single, “I’ll Always Be A Friend,” is out now and “speaks to the importance of connection.” The song has links to Carole King’s classic track “You’ve Got A Friend.”
For All That Really Matters, Moberg worked once again with producer Jon Evans (Tori Amos, Sarah McLachlan). The album’s title track speaks of the importance of love. The album also includes two cover songs that hold deep meaning for Moberg.
The first, Tom Prasado-Rao’s “$20 Bill (for George Floyd),” was written the night of George Floyd’s murder. Moberg included the song on this project to keep Tom Prasado-Rao’s song alive, who passed away before he completed his own project to benefit the Black Lives Matter Survival Fund.

The second cover is Joni Mitchell’s “Both Sides Now.” Moberg’s version “honors her memory of singing this song with her Mom as a young girl, as well as the joy of passing it on to the next generation by singing it with her older daughter, Rachel.”
Moberg was born in Juneau, Alaska, the daughter of an Alaskan Native (Tlingit) mother and a US Coast Guard veteran father from Kansas. Music was an integral part of Moberg’s upbringing and a constant in her childhood, helping her adjust to the frequent moves associated with growing up in a military family. A classical pianist and guitarist, Moberg’s mother guided her lifelong love for a diverse range of musical genres from traditional and contemporary Jazz to Broadway tunes and Folk music. Her father, a lifelong country music fan, exposed her to Country music artists like Johnny Cash and Hank Williams.
All That Really Matters follows Moberg’s 2023 release, The Seven Fires Prophecy: Suite for Humanity, an eight-song original suite that ties the ancient Anishinaabe prophecy to our current social environment. Her first two releases were Above Ground (2017) and Up Around The Bend (2020).
