Dave Miller is a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist who blends Ozark Mountain string music, Western Swing, Bluegrass, Delta acoustic Blues, and Rock into a genre he calls “Riverbank Soul.” His songs have been performed and written over nearly six decades of musical exploration.
Miller has announced new album Party In The Pines for release in January 2026, arriving via Howlin’ Dog Records. His new album explores “the possibility of living a simple life in an increasingly complex world.”
Today we’re very pleased to premier the song and video for the title track from the new album, “Party In The Pines”, here on Wildfire Music + News.
This feel-good and welcoming track really sets the tone for Miller’s upcoming album, almost an invitation to come and encounter his new music. As the title might suggest, the song itself is introducing and inviting the audience to a musical gathering with other players, friends, family, food, and festivities. But in doing so, the song creates a bigger narrative of community. The song’s speaker is giving out orders and requests to get the party set up, which includes inviting other players by name, including a few great musicians who are no longer with us, and then moving through each category of preparation, including inviting family members, readying food, and preparing drinks for the event. The latter really paints a picture of mouth-watering goodness! Aside from drawing the audience in with its sprightly tone, dancing movement, and fast-pace, the song settles on what may be it’s biggest and most important message “Everybody’s welcome to the party in the pines.” What seems to simple is, in fact, so meaningful and heart-warming in today’s world, where exclusion in far more typical than inclusion.
The video for “Party In The Pines”, which was directed by Drew Fleming and shot by Jordan Danelz, is almost as charming as the song itself, a hybrid of live performance appearances and a cut-paper world of pine trees and jigging wooden marionettes. The whimsy of the video adds to the the message of the song–the only thing to take seriously here is having a good time. The underlying energy is clear, that people need to gather, to create a sense of warmth and community, and what better place to do it than in the beautiful outdoors? The setting is extra-liberating and the cut-paper pine trees of the video places emphasis on the way in which the setting is like a welcoming character in this story, too. The new song and video are a welcome teaser of the positivity that Miller will no doubt be bringing to the full album, and that is surely balm for audiences against the stress and inhuman pace so typical of daily life.
Dave Miller says about the new song and video:
There is really nothing better than getting into the woods with friends to share music, great food, dancing and shenanigans while hanging out in the rejuvenating beauty of nature. Everything just seems richer and fresher when you experience it outside. It calls to us all.
