Gothrock artist Sylvia Black has announced her new album Shadowtime, set for release on January 16, 2026. Using New Romantic and Goth-tinged textures, the project is dance-driven and in it Black “explores a longing for a return to beauty, love, and freedom.”
Alongside the announcement, Sylvia Black has released the single + visualizer, “Talking in Tongues.” It’s a “haunted warning to those who might let loose enough to invite the spirits to take over.”
Black says:
It’s about one who has lost their agency by letting outward elements control them and deceive them. Or, a drunk bitch.
Black expands on her work as a writer and Producer, consistently creating music on her own terms and exploring Post-Punk and the Goth-romantic resurgence.

Sylvia Black created a rendition of the classic “I Put A Spell On You” for the Netflix series Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (2018), and fronted the East Village combo Kudu with drummer/producer Deantoni Parks (Mars Volta, John Cale, André 3000) and keyboardist/producer Nicci Kasper in the early aughts. She has written and recorded with Black Eyed Peas (“Meet Me Halfway”), heiress Daphne Guinness, and beyond.
Her resume includes collaborations with producer Tony Visconti (David Bowie, T. Rex), No Wave artist Lydia Lunch, Moby, the Knocks, Armand Van Helden, and French electronic duo Telepopmusic.
