Modern Folk artist Mon Rovîa has announced his debut album Bloodline, out January 9, 2026, a project that “threads together memory, identity, grief, and resilience.” The record marks the culmination of years spent searching and putting together “fragments of a past marked by displacement and rebirth.”

Mon explains:

When the name Bloodline first came to me in 2022, I recognized it as the title of my debut album. What I didn’t realize then was how long it would take to grow into the story behind that name, the grief, the quiet, and the slow disassembly of a self that resisted its own becoming. Even now, I move through life carefully, as though visibility might undo me, as though being seen might awaken an identity I’m still learning how to carry: Mon Rovîa.

Spanning 16 tracks, Bloodline is “both an intimate memoir and a collective testimony.” Across its songs, Mon “confronts the legacies of war, loss, and migration while also illuminating resilience, love, and the search for belonging.” The record carries forward his Liberian roots and his American journey.

Alongside the announcement, Mon has released his new single, “Whose face am i.” The track “stands as an emotional centerpiece of the album – a quiet exploration of lineage and longing.” The song is rooted in his personal history as an adoptee from war-torn Liberia.

He adds:

A lot of life is about your history. The search for understanding what has happened, what is, and what isn’t. The Truth lies at the epicenter of the case. For many adopted children, or those who have lost parents when young or never knew theirs to begin with, there can be an unspoken weight. We all long to know who brought us into this world, and at what cost. Relief releases sweetly as answers come to light. Know you aren’t alone in your search for your story. Many seek with you.

Mon was the first-ever musical artist guest on The Mel Robbins Podcast, joining the speaker and author for an in-depth conversation on art, activism, and resilience.  Mon also embarks on his ‘A Place To Gather’ North American Headline Tour this Fall.

Originally from Liberia and now rooted in Tennessee, Mon has performed on stages including Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits, Newport Folk Festival, and recently made his Grand Ole Opry debut.
