The Prickly Pair are an Americana duo of Irene Greene and Mason Summit, and they will be releasing their debut EP, The Prickly Pair. The song “Winsome Lose Some Game” is out now, alongside an acoustic video.
The duo met when they were students at the USC/Thornton School of Music, and later became a couple. And then, after pursuing separate musical paths, deciding during the pandemic to see what they could do as a duo. After that, they made a big jump in moving from L.A. to Nashville, where they created their new EP.
Their track, “Winsome Lose Some Game” reflects on the fears of committing to another person.
Greene says:
I think this song is about loving and accepting a person for who they are. Sometimes it’s a toss-up, but when you find the right person, you’ll love them wholeheartedly, in spite of their flaws.
Summit added the “clip-clop” percussion to give “Winsome” its Western feel and the pair asked Jeff Plankenhorn to play lead on the song after opening for him at Santa Monica’s McCabe’s Guitar Shop last year.
