Sacramento-based Post-Hardcore band Yunger have released their two-song, 7” single, Alive, today via Negative Progression Records. It features the title track, “Alive”, and also the B-side “Sinner.”
Vocalist Jay Malcuit shares about “Sinner”:
‘Sinner’ is a raw, emotionally charged track about the fallout of a toxic relationship and the painful clarity that comes with betrayal. It captures the inner conflict of loving someone who can’t love you back.
Recorded by Nick Miller (A Skylit Drive) and mastered by Kris Crummett (Sleeping With Sirens, Issues, Dance Gavin Dance), Alive marks an evolution in Yunger’s songwriting, drawing on elements of Post-Hardcore, Emo, Shoegaze, and Dark Pop.
Malcuit adds about “Alive”:
‘Alive’ explores the emotional weight of being someone’s savior while they spiral through inner turmoil. It reflects the heartbreak of watching someone self-destruct, all while relying on you to keep them afloat.

Formed in 2018, Yunger previously worked with producer Beau Burchell (Saosin) on a series of self-released singles. Now signed to Negative Progression Records, Yunger continues to grow a West Coast fanbase, with plans to tour in 2025, and a music video for “Alive” scheduled for release this Fall.
