Los Angeles-based Heavy Rock band Gale Forces are returning with new double single “Exits” b/w “Losing to Win” arriving this Friday, June 13th, 2025. Produced by guitarist Gabe Van Benschoten (Mossbreaker) and featuring drummer Isaac Carpenter (Guns N’ Roses, Awolnation), “Exits” is an “exploration of isolation, inertia, and inner escape.”
The song’s formative concepts and accompanying artwork are described thus:
The track’s concept loosely follows two mechanics drifting through space aboard a freighter, lost in their routine transmissions home—apathic, yet surrounded by the vast unknown. The single’s cover art—a fogged-up car interior—echoes the theme of escapism, suggesting that even the most mundane portals can lead to untapped corners of imagination.
We’re very pleased to premier both the single and visualizer video for “Exits” here on Wildfire Music + News today ahead of its wide release. The sci-fi theme suggested by the band and the hints of sci-fi elements in the visualizer make for an interesting jumping-off point for the imagination while listening to the track. While you don’t have to stick with those ideas to appreciate the song, sonically, there is a pleasing sense of enclosed spaces, voids, metallic echoes, and other elements that do mesh well with a sci-fi world.
Part of what also makes the song appealing is the driving sense of motion and urgency built up by the guitars and the rhythm section. This contrasts with a certain dreaminess or indistinctness that brings two seemingly disparate elements together in a satisfying way. While this easily could be an instrumental track and still have a lot of cinematic and emotive qualities, the fact that there are vocals makes sure that a human element is also front and center, building a sense of drama. The song’s lyrics take up “space and time” and speak from the viewpoint of central characters facing the vastness of “cosmic space.” They seem to withdraw into themselves as a way of coping with the idea of an overwhelming universe outside. The visualizer enhances these feelings by giving a sense of narrow enclosed space, but also endless motion in a looping way within that space.
“Exits” marks the latest chapter in Gale Forces’ progression from founder Jade Devitt’s solo project into a fully realized band. Formed in 2014, Gale Forces grew from Devitt’s early solo recordings (Gale Forces EP, 2014 and Strawberry Peak, 2017) into a collaborative effort with the 2023 release of Highlights of Existence.
Alongside Van Benschoten, Carpenter, and newest member Peter Forslund on bass, the band continues to mine the spirit of 90s Seattle underground while seeking out a modern edge which never lets go of heavy elements.

Gale Forces will celebrate the release of “Exits” with a special matinee performance on Saturday, June 14 at 5 PM at The Redwood Bar in downtown Los Angeles. They’ll be joined by Museum of Light and If It Kills You for “an early evening of immersive, high-decibel Rock.”
