Montreal-based, Japanese Psych-Rock group TEKE::TEKE have shared a new lyric video for “Mienai Iro (Radio Version),” one of six original new songs, alongside their take on “Ezio’s Family,” which are to be found on Assassin’s Creed: Shadows – Kage No Iro (Original Game Soundtrack), out now via Ubisoft Music.
With vocalist and lyricist Maya Kuroki’s impressionistic lyrics translated over cinematic gameplay footage, “Mienai Iro” includes hard-charging guitars, thunderous percussion, and soaring flute and horn melodies.
TEKE::TEKE has also announced a string of North American tour dates beginning in June on the East Coast, including a show at Baby’s All Right in Brooklyn before heading to the West Coast in July featuring dates in Seattle and Portland.
Kage No Iro is a new entry in TEKE::TEKE’s discography, but it’s also an evolution for Ubisoft, with “the songs playing in-game for the first time, tied intrinsically to the story to soundtrack key narrative moments.”
While composers and longtime Ubisoft collaborators, The Flight, were again charged with the game’s score, Ubisoft has never used a full album of original songs, until now.

The TEKE::TEKE members’ Japanese heritage connected them deeply to the game’s setting. Their surf and Psych Rock influences matched well what music supervisors Benedicte Ouimet and Jerome Angelot had in mind, since they were imagining a Tarantino soundtrack when sourcing music for Shadows.
