Athens, Greece’s 1991-founded Metal band Nightfall form a cornerstone of Greek Metal music alongside former Season of Mist labelmates Rotting Christ and Septicflesh.

They’ve announced their eleventh full-length album, Children of Eve, supporting a powerful message. Their latest single from Children of Eve is titled “Seeking Revenge” and is accompanied by a video.

Frontman Efthimis Karadimas says about the new track:

We wrote this song in retaliation for the vengeful teachings that the catechism practices on us. It seeks revenge for the expelled ones, the traders of anathema, who have the outlandish desire to disobey Christian Svengali.

Living under the Eastern Orthodox Church over the past three decades has deepened Nightfall’s “disdain for overzealous rulers.”

When speaking about the birth of the new album, Efthimis says, “Anger was the root”. But while their latest album was spurred by the ongoing rise of so-called “holy wars” around the globe, the album’s message is personal. When the band retreated during their 2010’s hiatus, Efthimis was diagnosed with depression. He now wears a black mask that covers half of his face “to show what it’s like to live under the invisible veil of mental illness.”

Efthimis, who has now created an initiative called Metal Music against Depression to help fight the stigma of mental illness, adds:

Mental illness can lead to self-isolation. We can talk about this. We can sing about it. We can build a community that’s based on understanding.
