Nels Cline has released Consentrik Quartet, the self-titled debut of the guitarist’s new band with saxophonist Ingrid Laubrock, bassist Chris Lightcap, and drummer Tom Rainey. The album spotlights the ensemble’s chemistry and versatility.
Cline elevated the songs of Jeff Tweedy as a member of Wilco, and has traversed diverse musical terrain on his Blue Note albums over the past decade, from the mood music of Lovers with arrangements by Michael Leonhart, to the wide-open sonics of Share The Wealth featuring The Nels Cline Singers, and Currents, Constellations where he fronted The Nels Cline 4 with Julian Lage.
Consentrik Quartet will be celebrating the album release with a performance at the
Big Ears Festival in Knoxville, Tennessee on March 30, 2025, one of four appearances Nels Cline will make at the festival this year. The band will also tour the Northeast in April including an April 14 show at (le) poisson rouge in NYC.
