Singer/songwriter Joel Timmons has released the single “Guitars, Guns, and Pickup Trucks” which previews his solo debut, Psychedelic Surf Country. Due out on February 7th, 2025, the new eleven-song collection finds the longtime Sol Driven Train band member and current Maya de Vitry guitarist stepping into the spotlight for the first time in his 25 year career.

Drawing on years of touring and recording along with his South Carolina upbringing, Timmons blends Country sounds with Bluegrass and Folk-Rock.

The song “Guitars, Guns, and Pickup Trucks” was written for his real-life father-in-law, dad to Timmons’s longtime musical partner, wife, and this song’s co-writer, Grammy-winning bluegrass bassist Shelby Means.

Timmons says:

He’s a tough western dude with a gun safe, a collection of old trucks, and a deep love of bluegrass music. In a nation that can feel more divided than ever, I hope this song can be a reminder to focus on the values we share together as Americans.

On the song, the band is joined by six-time IBMA Fiddle Player of the Year, Jason Carter (Del McCoury Band).
