Vocalist Jessie Wagner’s new single, “I Just Can’t Today” is out now, alongside a video, via Wicked Cool Records. It’s accompanied by a B-side, “The Unknown.”
Wagner says about the lead track:
‘I Just Can’t Today’ came about when I was having one of those “I Can’t Get It Right” days. I allowed myself some grace. Sometimes you need a moment to take a deep breath, lose yourself in a mindless Netflix comedy, and regroup. That’s what this song is about. Giving yourself the courtesy to start again.
Of the B-side (“The Unknown”), Wagner adds:
‘The Unknown’ is a song about realizing how fleeting time can be. You think you always have enough of it, and then one day, the thing you wanted most is out of reach. For me, this was the choice of career over family. The Unknown is the joy of a child in my life.
Jessie Wagner is a touring vocalist who has shared stages with the likes of Lenny Kravitz, Chic, Duran Duran, and Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul, and is the frontwoman for NYC Rock/Soul band Army of the Underdog. She released her debut solo album Shoes Droppin’ in 2020.
Wagner will be on tour with the trio The Three Degrees (“When Will I See You Again”) in the U.K. and Netherlands all of September and the first half of October.
