Molecular Steve will be releasing their self-titled album on July 19th, 2024 on Strolling Bones Records, with their single, “Wolfman,” out now.
The single’s accompanying video uses unseen footage from photographer Dan Winters’ (Esquire, GQ, Vanity Fair) short film, “Tone,” which won an indie short award at Cannes in 2021.
Throughout their album, Molecular Steve, the band embraces “whimsy,” while looking at the “resilience of simple humanity.”
The track “Wolfman” is described as…
…a metaphor about our hidden selves while asking the ever-important question: What if that roommate you found on Craigslist is actually the Wolfman? At first he seemed like a nice enough guy, but as the full moon rises, he disappears for days. Soon there are reports of missing livestock and people. Before long the villagers are at your door with pitchforks and torches. Despite his impending doom, he seems to have a plan.
Comprised of nine former members of Austin-area bands including Prescott Curlywolf, The Damnations, The Meat Puppets, Gleeson, Black Drum Set, and Grand Champeen, Molecular Steve is a “melding of many talents,” and commits to “the raw, the real and the resonant.”
