Maya Vik’s “C.N.B (Cold Norwegian Babe)” Reframes Coldness As Independence

Norwegian Funk and R&B-influenced artist Maya Vik has returned with the single “C.N.B. (Cold Norwegian Babe)”. It marks the second track she’s sharing from upcoming LP, Hustlebot, due out June 7th, 2024.

“C.N.B. (Cold Norwegian Babe)” is a Synthpop/Retrowave track made “for long Norwegian summer nights, neon lights, and driving.”

Maya Vik says about the track:

Us Norwegian girls are known to be a bit ‘cold,’ as in ‘I’ve been to Norway and no one wanted to talk to me’. However, ‘cold’ is given a positive meaning in this song, signifying independence and strength.

Vik began her career as a bassist in several different bands (Furia, Montée, Savoy, among others), before embarking on a solo career internationally, as both a vocalist and bassist. She has toured the world and warmed up for artists like Lenny Kravitz and Dâm-Funk.

Through her unique sense of style and fashion, she was on Vogue World 100’s list of the world’s top 100 “street style” personalities. The award-winning Dawn Richard song “Not Above That” was co-written with Maya Vik.
