Teresa Storch Band Builds A Bigger Sound For ‘Open Your Heart’

While on a duo tour of the Pacific Northwest, Teresa Storch and Peter Lacis began thinking about a bigger sound and forming a band. They brought together Storch’s love of the jam band world and Lacis’ enthusiasm for guitar solos. Soon they were working towards their debut album, Open Your Heart, out April 26th, 2024. The song and video “Things Will Get Better” are out now.

During the pandemic, Storch and Lacis explored new sounds and crafted fully produced demos for what would become their 2024 album Open Your Heart. Those demos formed the basis for the arrangements that Tony Dickinson would bring to them. Live drums, strings, keys and horns, were added, featuring musicians from Colorado and around the country.

With basics recorded at Chimaera Studios, Storch continued to work with bassist Chad Mathis and drummer/recording engineer Chris Wright to craft vocals at Cinder Sound Studio. Lacis worked at his home studio Tone Lab to craft the album’s layered guitar parts, relying on a combination of old and new technologies.

The result is an album of “road-tested songs and performances” covering topics from “political division, social justice and the #MeToo movement to eternal ideas of hope, love and relationship.”
